This Monochromatic painting of Yellow + Black & White started out life much differently than it ended up. Originally, it had 4 figures (2 couples) not playing music, but rather engaged in conversation, and looking down at the dalmatian with a crow on its back. Also, the color palette was Orange + Black & White. All these elements weren’t working, it all seemed stagnant. I came up with the musician idea, moved the crow, and modified the background (grass to cobblestone and a reconfigured skyline). Within these changes, the dynamics of the painting shifted, and bought abundant life to the otherwise stale piece.
