In this interpretation of two classic monsters, Denny reworked one of his older paintings and used the original “American Gothic” characters as templates to build this “Couple” of horror portrait. Initially, he was going to pair the Frankenstein Monster with the Mummy character but attempts at doing so… were awful! Denny then decided on the Bride of Frankenstein instead, this proved to be the right choice since it better reflects Grant Woods original work.
