In this piece, I was interested in using large overlapping circles to create a loose, pseudo–Venn Diagram where the overlapping colors are a combination of the colors that overlap. As a progression in the development of my border work, I have superimposed a narrow, colorful frame on top of my traditional black and white border to create depth and enhance the Venn Diagram motif. The title comes from the idea that when you see the sun setting over the sea, it appears to be sinking into its cold, murky depths.
