Originally, I wanted to create a geometric painting that showcased a snowcap peak to be entitled “Summit.” But as I added the vertical stripe pattern, images of old-fashioned, hard Christmas candy we enjoyed as kids came to mind. I soon thought about the 1928 song by Harry McClintock featured in the moving, “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” The merry melody inspired the painting’s sweet title.
