 In a photo reference, a boy was sitting on a tall stool. In the photograph, the boy was barefoot. I was going to add shoes to his feet but decided that playing baseball without shoes (like Shoeless Joe Jackson of the early 1900s) was very little boy like. In a separate photograph, a man was gesturing toward a woman with his hand holding her chin. I combined the two figures into a composite piece with different props and background to create a monochromatic, Orange + Black & White scene of a father teaching his son the finer points of the Great American Pastime.
