The focal point of this dynamic piece is the Red Planet. To give it a bold look, I rendered the planet’s surface with a loose mixture of Red and Black. I used a Monochromatic palette of Red + Black and White, with spot colors of Cerulean and Ocean Blue for this work of Asymmetrical Symmetry. Originally, I was going to use the plaid-like pattern for the vertical columns, but after loosely painting them with multiple colors, I liked the marble-like pillars and chose to use the plaid patterning on the shapes behind the gothic posts instead.
