In reworking an older piece, I rendered another Martini painting which featured three green olives. Normally the olives would be a flat yellowy-green color, but to cover up the texture of the underlying work, I loosely mixed three colors on top of it to create a new texture. This is a technique I often use to cover up images and textures of failed, older works. The Martini was a popular drink in the 1920s as was the Art Deco movement. I celebrate both with three olives, pin-stripe lines, and a black and white checked border – Cheers!
