Denny adopted the brighter sleeves from the “Prado” Mona Lisa to add more color and contrast to his reimagining of Da Vinci’s master work. He also used this hue in the red clay of the midground, intensifying the color. In the same spirit, Denny exaggerated the basic color palette for a brighter composition with POP!! He also exaggerated her smile, making it a focal point of the painting, exemplifying the famous smirk.
