With this semi-panoramic piece, I started out with a large oval (off center) colliding with a horizontal pyramid. To accentuate the collision, I added flourishing motion lines (and shapes) to the left of the large oval to give the image (or object) a sense of penetration. For contrast, I primarily used warm colors for the surging oval, and mainly cool colors for the supporting background. To extend this sense of contrast, I mostly used the plaid-like detail lines in the shapes outside the oval and its flourishes, leaving the primary patchwork shapes of the central image stark and planal. The title of this work didn’t come to me until late in the finishing process when I settled on its orientation.
