And Torrential Rain

Adventure We Could Not Ignore

 

We Told Eli Our Son

About a Beach with Rock

Where Tidepools Form

The Water is Warm

And Seagulls and Pelicans Flock

 

We Checked All of the Maps

And Considered the Date

Then Packed Up the Car

For Travelling Far

Excited We Just Couldn’t Wait

 

Prepared Like Three Scouts

Tougher Than Leather

Then Caught in a Storm

That Started to Form

For We Hadn’t Checked the Weather

 

Not Wanting to Fail

Our Son’s Hopes and Dreams

We Ran Down the Hill

Through the Wind and the Chill

As the Rain Poured Down in Streams

 

We Drove to Ruby Beach

With Our Hopes Set High

For the Sun Should Shine

When it’s Summertime

With Nary a Cloud in the Sky
