A lot of times I have a title in mind when I start a piece, even if it’s a geometric, abstract painting. Or I choose an appropriate title from an ongoing list I am compiling during or upon completion of the work. In this case, the title came to me several days after completing the artwork. The movement of the curved shapes, the three floating orbs, the circle and bead patterns, and the crisscrossing, laser-like pinstripes gave it a galactic feel (to me). One day, the classic Clash song, “Rock the Casbah” came to mind as I viewed the painting hanging on the wall in my home, and like a comet crossing the night sky, the perfect title came to me.
