Roundabouts in Wonderland
Roundabouts in Wonderland
18” X 24” X 1.5”
Acrylic on Canvas
This piece began with two large ovals and two small ones. As the painting developed, I was inspired to feature brown with surrounding shapes in predominantly cool colors (and some green), giving the artwork the feeling of earth and sky.
Throughout the creating process, and upon completion of the painting, I struggled to come up with a suitable title. I went to my file folder containing title ideas (as I often do) and began reading through the random lists written on various scraps of paper. When I came to this certain phrase, I looked at the painting, then back to the phrase and remembered the words of a friend that inspired this title. He was commenting on another painting of mine when he wrote:
"I thought this was the roundabout just before you hit downtown Wonderland."
