Acrylic on Canvas
This painting was initiated in Bremerton, at the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair, where my son had a project showcased. I conceptualized the design utilizing graphite on canvas in the Bremerton High School cafeteria, surrounded by a sea of 1200 people. Subsequently, I advanced the composition to the black line stage, employing acrylic paint pens, straight edges, and various shape templates. Dissatisfied with the initial border design created that day, I revised it upon returning to my Ahtanum studio the next day. Following experimentation, I opted for a four-panel directional border that effectively showcased the circular sun and its triangular rays. Perceiving the sun as incomplete, I commenced adding supplementary linework. Initially, I drew a double black lined cross, followed by a single, intersecting aqua line. This imparted a sense of dimensional depth to the sun, providing the piece with a necessary finishing touch.
