When it came time to title this painting, I thought back to a piece of work I had done many years before entitled, “The Dark Sun.” The palette for this Monochromatic work of Asymmetrical Symmetry was rendered in Red + Black and White, with spot colors of Cerulean and Ocean Blue. With the hovering red orb in the composition, seemingly sun-like, as in the land of the rising sun, I focused on that image while naming the artwork. Taking the title words from yesteryear, and switching them around, I came up with the appropriate wording for this dark, yet sunny piece.
