In the reimagining of van Gogh’s “The Starry Night,” Denny primarily used a monochromatic palette of Blue + black and white with multiple spot colors of various hues. During the finishing stage he was unhappy with the look of the swirling sky. It seemed flat and uninspired. Denny pondered it for a couple of days to no avail. Then one morning his wife suggested a circle pattern to reflect the shape of the stars in the sky. This simple suggestion not only livened up the swirling sky but brought the entire painting to life. This dramatic change eased Denny’s mind like a peaceful Starry Night.
