This Monochromatic work of Asymmetrical Symmetry uses a palette of Cobalt Blue + Black and White, with spot colors of Light Aqua and Ocean Blue. The vertical, elliptical curves on the left portion of the painting represent the massive gas planet known as Uranus. Originally, there were only three curved planes making up the cropped, planetary sphere. Feeling like something was missing, I added a fourth. To make it appear more dynamic, I extended the arc only part way up the orb. Contrasting the linear and planal patterns on the right side of the artwork, I gave Uranus and its ring a bold, flat-color finish.
